There was no way I was not going to bake Tannie Maria’s Muesli Buttermilk Rusks. The last few pages of the book has a selection of recipe for some of the dishes that appears in the story and since the rusks appear regularly in the book I got down to bake them

Bredie, Bobotie, Melkert, Koeksisters, and mueslirusks, to name a few. Another week just flew by, we seem to be dashing from weekend to weekend… tons of good blog material was gathered and prepared for bloging next week…
Now add the muesli, seeds and raisins. The almonds, raisins and the hint of cinnamon make the rusks just so delicious and perfect if you don’t have time for a proper breakfast
Druk jou beskuit so plat soos wat jy jou rusks wil he. 750ml Muesli. As jou muesli klaar rosyne in het, gooi net 100g ekstra muesli by, of jy kan dit uitlaat
cups muesli. While growing up though, there was only one sign that the chilly weather was approaching and that was the gentle sweet smell of my mother's wholewheat buttermilk rusks drying in the oven for what felt like days on end
6 cups (240g) Kellogg’s All-Bran wheat flakes (can partially be replaced with any other cereal like Special K, muesli etc). Cut rusks and place on oven racks, dry out in oven at 80 dgrs for about 6 hrs. 6 cups (240g) Kellogg’s All-Bran wheat flakes (can partially be replaced with any other cereal like Special K, muesli etc)
Breakfast was a sumptuous buffet of cereals (the most delicious homemade muesli I have ever tasted), muffins and pastries, fruit, cheese, yoghurt and cold meats, as well as the option of a hot breakfast - eggs done "your way" or omelette with a choice of fillings
For breakfasts we would have oats, sugar-free bran/oat muesli or protein shakes (In South Africa, I absolutely love the Futurelife breakfast range - which can be made into shakes or high protein porridge)
