So I Decided to post one of our very early posts from way back when we startedthe group, this is an easy Dessert Recipe, MilkTart OR MelkTert, as it's commonly known as here in South Africa
MilkTarts are an all time favourite among the South African Desserts. This one was tried by Zubeida Mahomed, who had mad them into small Tarts, but works well served as one big tart
Traditional Cape Malay MilkTart – this is a time consuming recipe but well worth it at the end. Boil themilk in a saucepan with the cardamom and stick cinnamon
Traditionally a milktart is baked, but there is always a chance that the custard may not set. In this recipe we cook the custard beforehand and spoon it into biscuit bases
In keeping with the #AfroChic theme I wanted to recreate a favourite South African pudding using the phyllo pastry and what better dessert to go with than the ever popular milktart
•boil rest of milk and condensed milktogether with cinnamon stick. •mix maziena with a little milk. 1 litre milk. 1 tin condense milk. 1 litre milk. 1 tin condense milk
On the stove. Then add to the boiled mixture and mix continuously till thickens. 4 1⁄2 cups milks. Crush biscuits till fine( I put mine thru the food processor) then mix with the 125g butter to form the base. add the 250g butter and 4 1⁄2 cups milk and bring to boil. 1 cup sugar, 2tblsp maizena (corn flour), 2tblsp flour, 2 egg yolk and 1 egg white together. 4 1⁄2 cups milks
