Ingredients

  • 2 cups split red lentils
  • 3 cups water
  • Olive oil
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 large red onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp fenugreek
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp garam masala plus more to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp plain yogurt
  • Fresh coriander
  • Dried onions
  • Grated cucumber (optional)
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 large knob of butter
