Ingredients

  • For the beef patty (200 g for each patty)
  • 1.5 kg free-range lean beef mince
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/4 can of beer
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • Olive oil
  •  
  • For the toppings
  • 8 X Sesame buns
  • Caramelized onions: use 5 brown onions – (refer to my recipe, search for it under the vegetarian category)
  • Ice-burg lettuce
  • 3 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Burger mayo (from Woolworths)
  • Tomato sauce
  • 2 red chilies, chopped
  •  
  • For the BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 squeeze of honey
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Kosher Salt and black pepper
  •  
  • For the sweet potato chips
  • 6-7 sweet potatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  • EQUIPMENT
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 scale
  • 1 basting brush
  • 1 large oven tray
  • Mortar and Pestle
  • Gas braai or barbecue
  • METHOD
  • Serves 6-8 people
  • Preparation: 30 minutes
