Baked Beans Curry

Ingredients

  • • 2 x Medium Sized Onion
  • • 1 x Green Chilli (or half)
  • • 1 x heaped teasp Garlic paste
  • • 1 x heaped teasp Garlic & Ginger paste
  • • ¾ teasp Salt or to taste
  • • 1 x can baked beans in tomato sauce
  • • 1 x can butter beans
  • • 8-10x pieces of meat (preferably lamb / beef) / or as many pieces as required
  • • 1 teasp. Fine Jeera
  • • 1 teasp Fine Coriander
  • • 1 teasp Tumeric
  • • 1 teasp Chilli Powder
  • • 1 teasp Leaf Masala
  • • 2¼ tablesp sugar
  • • ½ Glass water + teasp tomato paste (mix well)
  • • Freshly Chopped Coriander (Dhanya)
  • • Oil

Instructions

    • Clean, cut and rinse meat, trimming off all excess fat.
    • Heat oil in medium sized pot.
    • Half the onions & slice each half thinly.
    • Braise onion adding salt, chopped chilli & when onion becomes translucent, the garlic & ginger.
    • When almost browned, add the jeera, coriander, tumeric, chilli powder and leaf masala.
    • Braise for approximately 2 - 4 minutes on low-medium heat.
    • Add meat & a little water (¼ glass) and allow to simmer until meat is cooked. (± 15-20 mins)
    • Add the beans the ½ glass water.
    • Add the 3 tablesp of sugar and the freshly chopped dhanya. Allow to simmer on low heat for approximately 25 – 30 mins, stirring every 5 minutes.
